SandFest 2021 Provides “Sandy” Fun

It’s back and it’s even better than before! Welcome to SandFest, the largest native sand sculpture event in the country, right on Port Aransas beach October 15th through 17th rain or shine.

The granular creations of SandFest are extraordinary works of art by the best-known stars in the sand sculpture universe. But you don’t have to be a beach DaVinci to attend, because SandFest is a terrific event for the whole family! Whether you watch the jaw-dropping master sculptures, compete in a team of 2, make your own masterpiece, or just watch, this is a beach bash for everyone!

With 28 sculptors from 5 countries, 12 live music performances, 150 amateur sculptors, and over 110 vendors, there is sure to be something to tickle your toes besides the sparkly sand. There are 3 levels of sand artist from master’s to Guppies (age 7 and under), so there is a category for everyone.

Eat your way down the beach, enjoying fried shrimp, tamales, corn dogs, fried chicken, sausage, funnel cakes, and refreshing beverages from slushies to cervezas. Go to Lesson Mountain and learn the art of sand sculpting from pros, visit the beer tents and slake your thirst, or enter your kids in the amateur contests.

Don’t miss performances by The Rich Lockhart Band, Outlaw singer Ty Dietz, LeRoy Thomas and the Zydeco Roadrunners, Clay Hollis, Matt Caldwell, and more. The final performance Sunday @ 6:30 following the announcement of the winning sculptors, the ever-popular 80s Tribute Band The Spazmatics perform.

And don’t forget the Merch! Get your official Sandfest Caps, Koozies, and Tees too. Shop for jewelry, clothing, housewares, souvenirs, toys, and more at the road and beachside vendor booths.

Sandfest will have all the fun and wonder of previous years while also observing distancing and other safety protocols. And all proceeds for this 501c(3) event go to support local scholarships and non-profit organizations, so feel good, have fun, and practice your beach artistry at the same time, guilt-free.

See you on the sand!
